Dear Neighbor:
As a life long Palos Verdes resident, I share the desire of all neighbors in maximizing the beauty and desirability of our neighborhood. As some residents are aware, the utility lines have multiplied in recent years and have had a blighting effect on our neighborhood’s appeal. Many neighbors have expressed to me a strong interest in underground utilities. I share this interest and I have contacted the City of Rancho Palos Verdes to inquire about such a project.
The City of Rancho Palos Verdes Public Works Department is finalizing a plan for streamlining the utility undergrounding process for neighborhoods. I have procured a draft of this plan. With their approval, I have attached an excerpted page instructing interested owners in the process of utility undergrounding. The first step is completed and we are now forming a neighborhood committee to define boundaries that will comprise our assessment district for the underground utilities. The City offers various plans regarding how the assessment can be financed.
If you are interested in 1) undergrounding your utilities or 2) joining the neighborhood committee for this project, please email me at agordon@greatnevada.net. I will notify you of our upcoming April meeting and subsequent progress updates. If you do not have email, I can be reached at the phone number and address listed above.
Finally, I have attached a copy of a recent L.A. Times article that shares a case study on just how utility undergrounding in other older southland neighborhoods has enhanced area beauty, increased neighborhood desirability, and directly appreciated property values. Let’s work together with the City to keep our neighborhood one of the Peninsula’s best!
